Urban Traffic Control (UTC)

Hampshire County Council, Southampton City Council and Portsmouth City Council extensively use an Urban Traffic Control system supplied by Siemens.

The UTC system provides a centralised database of information relating to many aspects of traffic control, including:

• Details of the current status of Traffic Equipment such as traffic lights, enabling the use of SCOOT as a signal management and control system.
• Fault detection/reporting relating to on street equipment.
• Real-time and predicitve car park occupancy information

The UTC system represents the 'hub' of information flow, pulling information from on-street equipment and pushing it out to other systems like Voyager, Argonault & COMET.
