Stopwatch is a county-wide system based on providing up-to-the-minute bus arrival times directly to bus stops around Hampshire. The information is displayed on an TFT flat panel display in the bus shelter itself.
The system works through a wireless technology called GPRS which allows each bus to broadcast its location to our control centre where each bus is tracked. Bus arrival times are then calculated and sent out to the in-shelter information displays. Information will also be available via SMS text message and on the internet.
In Winchester currently an older version of the Stopwatch system is still in use. This is likely to be upgraded to the new system before the end of the year.
